Hawaii ::: Puuhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park
We were directed by another tourist to visit Puuhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park while we were still in the south.
Puuhonua is a preserved territory that demonstrates how the Hawaiian's once lived before industry took over.
The grounds were covered in Palm Trees (my favorite) and scattered along the area were Tiki huts and sacred statues of Hawaiian gods.
It's absolutely fascinating how they use to build their huts out of the materials they found - hay, bamboo, palm etc.
I'll take the house with the purple door please!
We walked around the grounds until Sunset, watching the colors of the sky change the scenery in the most beautiful way.
Love these Tiki statues carved out of wood.
