New Orleans ::: Garden District
On our first full day in New Orleans we headed out to the Garden District to explore the historic neighborhood.
We started off the morning with a creole brunch of what dreams are made of at Atchafalaya, complete with bloody marys and New Orlean's classics.
Chicken and biscuits.
Soft shell crab.
Alligator sausage! It was delicious and spicy, they serve alligator all over.
A fountain of beer, just my scene.
There were so many fun shops as we walked through Magazine street.
Shucking one dollar oysters on the side of the road.
The houses in the neighborhood are of an architecture style so quintessential New Orleans. Apparently residents are held up to a government standard in the Garden District and if they don't obey they are fined. Which makes for a beautiful array of very well kept homes and shops.
Our last stop for the afternoon was the recently finished World War II museum.
One of my favorite authors, who served in the war.
What a day!
No better way to end it then with a cocktail in the cool confines of our hotel.
